Inventions that came out of the space race1 min read

Space technology is now used in every day life – watch this video to see the top five inventions that were originally created for use by astronauts

During the space race to the moon between 1955-1972, Nasa created items and technologies that would work in zero-gravity conditions that would ultimately make the astronaut’s life easier.

In the Apollo Lunar Rover, NASA built in a joystick for navigation ease.

Shortly after, the joystick was given to the gaming world and has been used throughout the world since.

Not only new technologies had to be invented but also the weight of the space craft had to be considered.

Food and supplies had to be as light as possible, which is why food had to be placed in vacuum-tight containers.

Not only would it lighten-up the food but also increased the shelf life and nutritional value.

Freeze-dried food is now commonly used around the world.

Watch the video above to see the top five inventions which were a result of the space race.
