SPACEX TARGETS THURSDAY FOR LAUNCH AND DRONESHIP LANDING
SpaceX is hoping to launch the 7,000-pound Thaicom 8 into space on Thursday at 5:40 pm Eastern. From its geosynchronous orbit, the satellite will beam television and internet signals into Southeast Asia.
After the launch, the Falcon 9 rocket’s first stage booster will turn around and attempt to land on an autonomous barge in the Atlantic Ocean.
If the landing goes well, it’ll be SpaceX’s fourth successful landing–the first was on land and the second and third touched down on the drone ship. They might need a bigger hangar soon.
